From the Interim Chair

This is an exciting time to be part of the VCU Department of Urology. Officially established as a standalone department in 2025 after years as a division, we are expanding in size, expertise and impact as we push the boundaries of a rapidly evolving specialty.

Urology demands both skill and trust. Our patients share their most personal and intimate concerns with us, and we pride ourselves on building meaningful relationships with the individuals under our care. Whether treating cancer, removing kidney stones, helping children with urinary tract conditions or addressing infertility, the care that we provide not only saves lives but also improves quality of life, both of which are an immense honor.

With subspecialists across the full spectrum of urology, our faculty are dedicated to shaping the field by providing comprehensive, compassionate patient care, conducting innovative research and educating the next generation of urologists. We value grit, resilience and collaboration, and joining our team means joining our family. Faculty and residents have each other’s backs in the clinic and in the operating room, and we support one another in living full, rich lives outside of the hospital. This culture is the cornerstone of who we are, driving our growth as a department and as individuals.
