The visiting acting internship is for medical students who wish to gain additional exposure to urology or have special interest in VCU prior to the residency application process. Through this experience, you will gain insight into resident life at VCU urology, build lasting relationships with our faculty and residents, and expand your urologic knowledge.
The acting internship student serves as an integral part of the inpatient team, participating in daily rounds and OR cases with residents and faculty. Students will also have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics as well as weekly urology Grand Rounds.
At the conclusion of the rotation, students are invited to present a 15-minute evidence-based lecture at urology Grand Rounds. Students also complete a hands-on clay modeling exercise during their time with the department.
The four-week rotation consists of three weeks on the adult service and one week on the pediatrics service. Exit interviews with faculty are arranged prior to the end of the rotation, which serves as the formal residency interview. Students also have the opportunity to collaborate in urologic clinical research.
