Ryan was born in St. Louis, MO but considers himself a North Carolina native. He was raised in Charlotte, NC and he completed his undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he majored in Biology and Chemistry. In his time between undergrad and medical school, he completed an AmeriCorps service year where he worked with Habitat for Humanity to build and rehabilitate homes in Charlotte. Ryan attended medical school at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. His research interests include prostate cancer screening and outcomes. Ryan lives south of the James River in Richmond with his wife Shannon and their dog, a lab-shepherd mix named Sadie. In his free time, he enjoys DIY-ing, cooking, and exploring new restaurants, and anything related to the outdoors, including backpacking and fly-fishing. He is an avid Carolina Panthers, Arsenal FC, and UNC Tarheels football and basketball fan.

Brandon C. Wilson was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD to Vincentian and Panamanian parents. He attended Seminole State University where he attained a degree in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department & Intensive Care for 5 years. He ultimately earned his MD at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. He has been married to his lovely wife and best friend, Paula Wilson, for over four years, and they have recently adopted three lovely children. His interests outside of work include Travel, trying new food, and spending time with his family.

Short Bio: Tiffany was born in Hong Kong and raised in Queens, New York City. She received her bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Society, and Health from Vanderbilt University and her medical degree from New York Medical College, during which time she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and won several academic awards, including the Camille Mallouh, M.D., Award. As the first person in her family to graduate college, Tiffany is passionate about medical education and mentorship, especially for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys boxing, yoga, cooking, singing and traveling around the world with her fiancé, Mayand.

Short Bio: "Sam was born and raised in Snellville, GA. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, where she earned her B.S. in Chemistry and graduated summa cum laude from the Honors Program. She went on to attend medical school at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. During her time there she worked as a TA in the anatomy lab, earned the Dr. J. Harold Harrison Scholarship, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Her research experience includes international presentations and publications in medical science education.

Since starting her residency at VCU, Sam has enjoyed exploring Richmond and the state of Virginia. Her interests and hobbies outside of medicine include video games, fantasy and science fiction novels, and amateur woodworking and DIY-ing."

Short Bio: "Born and raised in Atlanta, Kuna has been a Georgia girl all her life. Her undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry and minor in Spanish from Georgia Tech. She took a year off after graduating college did a myriad of jobs including ER scribe, tutoring, retail, etc. She then attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. She decided to get out of the Georgia bubble and landed in Richmond, VA for residency. Current research interest include improvements in health outcomes and urologic disparities.

In her free time, she likes to attend varied musical performances throughout Richmond ( musical theater, jazz, etc), winery tastings, visiting friends and family, and attend to her many plants at home."

Research interests: Bladder trauma perspectives among different types of surgeons

Short Bio: Joe hails from the great state of Colorado where he was born and raised right outside of Denver. As an undergraduate, he studied Physiology and Spanish at the University of Colorado Boulder and ultimately would end up leaving his home state for Philadelphia where he attended medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College.

Outside of urology, Joe can often be found listening to live music (especially bluegrass or the likes of the Grateful Dead) as well as playing guitar himself or running. He is an avid NFL and NHL fan that proudly splits his allegiances between Denver and Philly sports teams.

Short Bio: Grant was born in Reston, VA, but grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, majoring in Chemistry. He played goalie for the Riverhawks’ Division I men’s lacrosse team, served as a team captain for two years, and earned Scholar All-American honors as a senior. Grant attended medical school at the University of Virginia, where he met his wife, Kari, at a local church. Together, they enjoy traveling to the beach, spending time outdoors, and attending jam-band concerts in their free time.
